Self Drive Expeditions

Saharan Exploration specialises in expedition logistics in one of the most hostile and beautiful environments in the world, the mysterious and challenging Sahara Desert.

With over 20 years expedition experience in the Sahara, you can be confident that whatever your expectations are, we specialise in making them happen for you.

Unlike most "adventure travel" and "safari tour" operators, we understand that our expedition members want a little bit more than the standard "follow the leader" type road trips offered by many travel and overland companies. Rather than just sitting back and letting it happen for them - they want to take part.

For off road enthusiasts we try and offer as varied conditions as possible away from the tarmac. In general these will include stony mountain tracks, sand dunes, river beds, gravel plains and pure cross country GPS routes. With an average of 2000km off road per expedition, you can be sure that the driving will be interesting to say the least!

Small group sizes and exciting routes to outstanding remote destinations typify our expeditions to Algeria, Libya, Mali, Morocco, Mauritania, Niger and Western Sahara. If you make just one trip to the Sahara, you should make it a trip of a life time.
