::: 12 day Moroccan Exploratory Expedition I
12th March to 24th March 2007
Maximum Group Size: 4 Vehicles
Fancy a bit of a challenge doing something completely different???
This exploratory expedition will start in Algaciras(Southern Spain) and give participants the chance to explore the desolate Rekkam Plateau in Eastern Morocco before moving down to the sand dunes of Erg Chebbi on the Northern edge of the Sahara close to the Algerian border.
We will then drive South West along the boarder, well away from established routes across the open desert before returning North via Tordra gorge to follow little used routes through the Atlas Mountains before returning to Cauta on the Mediterranean coast and the ferry back to Europe.
This is an exploratory expedition (one we haven’t run before) so will appeal to those of you who have a sense of adventure and wish to experience Morocco away from the normal tourist centres. The route will follow stony 4x4 pistes (tracks) for over 1000km in the North, whilst in the South we will cross open desert, sand dunes and dry river beds East to West for over 800km.
We can’t be too specific about the driving conditions as we haven’t been on many of the pistes before (neither have many other people!) – but they should all be passable...
