Morocco ::: 12 day Moroccan Exploratory Expedition I
12th March to 24th March 2007
Maximum Group Size: 4 Vehicles Expedition Brief
The aim of this expedition is to explore Eastern Morocco via the Rekkam Plateau, moving on to follow parts of the 2003 Paris / Dakar rally route South West through the desert along the Algerian boarder and assess its suitability for running commercial expeditions in the future. The route then heads North via the Todra Gorge into the High Atlas Mountains before returning to Spain
Moroccan Exploratory Expedition 1 is ideally suitable for drivers all abilities using their own 4x4.
Although this will be primarily an “off road” expedition, the majority of the driving will take place on little used stony or sandy pistes. It is expected that there will be some technical off road driving crossing dried out river beds and sand dunes but these should be well within the capabilities of an adventures novice driver.

Your Vehicle
The Moroccan exploratory expedition is suitable for all makes of providing it well serviced, has a reasonable ground clearance and a low ratio gear box (low range). You will also need 5, preferably 6 good quality tyres (giving you 2 spares), have a range of 1000km between fuel stops (this normally means carrying 2x20 litre Jerry cans) and carry a few spare parts in case of emergency breakdowns. You will also need to carry 20 liters of water per person. Full details of vehicle servicing and spares etc will be supplied on booking although more general information is available in the FAQ section.
You will need to bring
Generally this amounts to Travel insurance, passport, camping equipment, food and supplies for 12 days. Local fresh produce will be periodically available from towns and villages we pass through but due to the nature of the expedition, local supplies can be a little limited. Full details of camping, suggested equipment and things to bring etc will be supplied on booking although more general information is available in the FAQ section
Accommodation
On this expedition, the overnight accommodation will be entirely under canvas either out in the desert or at an organised campsite. Please remember that although all normal amenities are generally available at the commercial campsites, they are not always to a European standard. There is often an attached cafe / restaurant, sometimes a small shop and also the possibility of “up grading” to a simple room or better if you wish. Rough camps will have no amenities what so ever, but generally have the advantage of spectacular settings...
