Saharan Exploration Ltd
Saharan Exploration is a small UK based company specialising in expedition logistics and 4x4 self drive tours to the Sahara . Founded in 2002, the company has gone from strength to strength, gaining an unprecedented reputation in the adventure holiday sector.
Specialising in both bespoke and individual tours of the Sahara Desert , Saharan Exploration offers its expedition members a truly unique experience where taking part and getting there is half the fun. We believe that if you make just one trip to the Sahara , you should make it a trip of a life time.

Hugh Martin
A member of the Royal Geographical Society, Hugh’s formative years were spent growing up in East and West Africa where he developed a life long interest in exploratory travel.
Since leaving school in 1986, he worked until 1998 as a mountaineering instructor based in N.Wales and the European Alps and as an Expedition Leader for various Overland companies touring North and West Africa. This experiance gave him the opportunity to explore remote areas of the world including the Himalaya, Southern Arabia and the Sahara, both on foot and by 4x4.
In total, since tentatively leading a climbing expedition to the Hoggar mountains in Southern Algeria during 1989, Hugh has now led over 20 expeditions to most parts of the Sahara as well as running Saharan Exploration's popular self drive adventures through out the year. |

Laura Higgins
Primarily a photographer and writer, Laura is a regular contributor to the Lonely Planet series of guides covering North and West Africa.
She first started traveling in South America before discovering the African interior with a love of bush camping and overland trips.
Laura was also part of the first British kite buggy expedition to Mauritania in 2003, running the logistical parts of the expedition on the ground. Laura has now been on over 10 expeditions to the Sahara as well as several extended trips to the Namib and kalahari.
Laura now runs our office in the UK as well as being a full time Mum and planning more camping trips to the desert with the kids.
